Camping Reccomendations

Big Rock Campground

Nestled in the serene environment of Big Rock Forest Preserve, this campground offers spacious sites for tents and RVs, with amenities like fire rings, picnic tables, and modern restrooms. It’s a great choice for those looking to immerse themselves in nature while still enjoying convenient facilities.

The campground contains 109 camp sites including 96 improved, vehicle campsites complete with 50/30/20-amp electrical service, water access, parking pads and fire rings, 9 primitive, tent-only sites without electric access, and four equestrian camp sites.

Big Rock Campground, part of Big Rock Forest Preserve, is located at 46W499 Granart Rd., Big Rock, IL.

The campground is open seasonally, May 1 through the third Sunday in October, each year. 

Blackwell Family Campground

A popular family-friendly campground within Blackwell Forest Preserve, offering tent and RV sites. Paul Wolff Campground

Located in Burnidge Forest Preserve, this campground features over 100 campsites, including equestrian sites, with access to trails, fishing, and scenic views. It’s perfect for those who love horseback riding, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.

The campground contains 89 improved, vehicle camp sites with 50/30/20-amp electrical service, water access, parking pad and fire ring. Improved camp sites are available to vehicle campers or tent campers. Each improved site is capable of handling a 50-foot motorhome. There are also 5 equestrian camp sites, where you may camp with your horse(s); and 10 primitive, wooded sites for tent camping only, away from the main camping area. Primitive sites do not have electric service and are available, weather permitting.

Paul Wolff Campground is located within Burnidge Forest Preserve, one mile west of Randall Road on Big Timber Road, at 38W235 Big Timber Rd., Elgin, IL.

Blackberry Creek Camp and Conference Center was established in the early 20th century by Districts 12 & 13 of the Polish National Alliance. The members of these districts desired to start a camp that would give youth an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and escape from the city during a week of the summer. Summer camp still goes on each summer bringing hundreds of youth to its property to enjoy fishing, sports, swimming, and Polish culture.

The mission of the camp is: To create a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive facility that engages the local community, enhances the body, mind, and spirit, of our guests, and embraces our Polish culture, identity, and connections to Poland.
